About the Committee

While the official CCCC website of the Committee on Computers in Composition is available on the NCTE site, the workspace and resources here at computersandwriting.org include current projects and the most up to date information about the committee's activities. The content at the official site is also mirrored here. One of the most important resources for the committee are the Task Force members and the volunteer work that they do for this community; this site provides a list of the task force members and supports the work that they do.

Who We Are And What We're Doing

The CCCC Committee on Computers in Composition and Communication (known in the community as 7Cs) includes nine appointed committee members and a task force of over a dozen volunteers who contribute ideas and feedback on a regular basis.

The CCCC Committee on Computers in Composition and Communication works on issues related to computers and writing in composition and communication, especially as they relate to teaching, access, promotion and tenure, and program administration.

Where We Meet and When We Work

Most of the work that 7Cs does takes place online -- on our email discussion list, via Facebook and Twitter, and in MOO and Second Life sessions. We also work face-to-face at conferences where a number of us gather, including NCTE, CCCC, and the Computers and Writing Conference.

Our face-to-face meetings at CCCC take place as a committee meeting (time and place are listed in the conference program). Even though it is listed as a closed meeting, if you have an interest in 7C committee project or have an issue that should be on our agenda, email the committtee chair.

Why We Exist and How You Can Participate

Our mission statement outlines the specific areas that we explore as a part of our charge. In addition, we sponsor the Computer Connection and Digital Poster Sessions at the CCCC and select the host sites for the onsite and online Computers and Writing conferences.

You can become a member of the 7C's Task Force by joining our discussion list and participating in the projects that we're working on. To have your name added to the list of task force members, email the committee chair (after you've joined the discussion list). Be sure to include some details on your areas of interest and the projects that you're interested in working on.
