On the Market: Job Search Advice and Resources

At the 2005 Graduate Research Network, held at the 2005 Computers and Writing Conference at Stanford University (June 16, 2005), a range of newly hired computers and writing faculty and staff members discussed how they portrayed their specific academic identities to tailor their job search. The presenters supplied tips about applying and interviewing for jobs, earning tenure, and preparing for academic life after tenure. In 2006, at the following year's GRN session, the format for the job workshop changed to roundtable format where participants could get advice from as many as 20 people who had recently been on the market or who had served on hiring committees. The same workshop style was used at the 2007 GRN. Who knows what format 2008 will bring!
